Quick Start

The core function of the Sort tool is to reorder lines and lists as you need. Open HeronTool's Text Sorter tool, paste your text into the input box. Choose a sorting method: ascending, descending, or by number, alphabet, length, etc. Click the "Sort" button, and the result appears instantly in the output area—copy and use.

Advanced Operations

For finer control, enable options like "Remove Duplicates" or "Ignore Case" in the sort settings. For example, when handling user lists with duplicates, check "Remove Duplicates" to clean automatically; when sorting mixed-case words, ignoring case gives more expected results. To keep original line numbers, enable "Show Line Numbers" for easier data tracking.

Practical Scenarios

  1. Sort unordered CSV lines by a numeric column—paste data, choose "By Number" and "Ascending" for quick organization.
  2. Sort a URL list by domain length—select "By Length" to filter short domains easily.
  3. Deduplicate and sort log files—combine "Remove Duplicates" with "Ascending" to clean redundant entries in one go.

FAQ

Q: Will original formatting be lost after sorting?
A: No. The tool only adjusts line order, preserving each line's content and line breaks.

Q: Can it handle very large text?
A: We recommend no more than 10,000 lines per batch; larger texts can be processed in chunks.

Q: Are custom sort rules supported?
A: Currently preset rules are available; regex support will be added in the future.
